Situation: Got it on preorder. LOVE IT!!! I'm at least 6 recipes in - 4 stews, the RIDICULOUS QUINOA PANCAKES and the WALNUT BROWNIES OHM NOM NOM NOMBackground: I've been at the vegan party for 22.5 years now. I'm at the stage where I'm not a fan of the 'fake' stuff, I like cooking with whole foods from scratch. But lots of vegan recipes tend to be Asian or Italian based, and while I love that stuff, I kinda just want FOOD. Like, not with soy sauce or marinara LOL In comes Isa. A friend got me Veganomicon like 10 years ago and I've BARELY touched it! What can I say, I NEED PICTURES of the food to want to make it! Ironically, several of her recipes in there are some of my top favs. My #1 cookie of ALL TIME: her Rum Nog cookies!! I HAVE stalked her recipes on PostPunkKitchen.com, cuz LOTS of photos there, so I KNOW I LOVE her as a chef! I just didn't do as much with Veganomicon as most other vegans I know.Assessment: Well then in comes in "I Can Cook Vegan", where she calls out all kinds of people in the prelude, including the type of vegan I am LOL She's HILARIOUS! And there are PICS FOR EVERYTHING!!!! With winter temperatures hitting us literally overnight (we went from 103 to 41 in 2 weeks here in Dallas), I've been cooking up ALL THE STEWS and they are STOOPID GOOD! Super fast and easy recipes, a LOT of pantry staple ingredients - which she even mentions in the prelude, that was her goal. AND - it's NOT loaded Asian or Italian food! It's just...FOOD! And barely ANY 'fake' stuff, and when she does use it, she has a recipe to make it yourself, too.Recommendation: I've told omni friends who have other chef's books on their Amazon Wish-List to put this book at the front of the line! I haven't had a cookbook I didn't put down since the 1st Thug Kitchen! I've cooked and baked from this book non-stop for 2 weeks, and all recipes have been omni-approved! Recipes are wicked simple and taste is through the roof.THANK YOU ISA!!! *WOOT WOOT WOOT WOOT WOOT*
