I love our hands free motion trash can. We bought a different ninestars one 3 years ago and the lid had finally died after a lot of abuse. Instead of replacing the lid we went with this one due to 1. Needing/wanting the smaller trash can and 2. The price difference between replacing the lid and buying the set wasn’t all that much of a difference.This keeps our small dogs from getting in the garbage. This one seems to be ultra sensitive as it opens in passing. I love that once you open it and if u stand over the sensor emptying something it doesn’t slam back down after an allotted time. Overall 10/10. Can’t comment on longevity; however it seems better built than the earlier version we had purchased.I originally ordered a 21 gal Ninestars Automatic motion sensor trash can for my kitchen years ago and after all the questions and compliments I've received, I ended up buying a 13 gal/2 gal automatic combo set for both my parents and my brother. They also absolutely love it compared to the old style manual trash cans they used previously. I've had mine for years now and haven't had to replace the batteries yet.The one thing I always make sure I don't do is overfill the trashcan which would cause the motor to burn out since the lid would constantly try to close. I also use the manual open/close buttons if I need the lid opened for an extended amount of time. Just by doing these 2 simple things, I haven't had any issues whatsoever since purchasing years ago. I also gave the same advice to my fam and they also haven't had any issues.I love the stainless steel design and sleek elegant look. If taken care of properly, these motion sensor trash cans will last quite a long time, are super convenient, and highly recommended!Needed a new trashcan for my home. So I bought this one along with the smaller one. Even though it scares me when I walk past it in the night, I love it. The lid pops open fast enough and shuts fast enough. It traps the nasty oder of the trash. I would definitely recommend.I really loved these trash cans, but after only 7 months I'm have the same issue as others. The lid on the large can opens and closes every few minutes with no one near it. I have cleaned it, changed the batteries twice and still doesn't work properly. The small can is still working well so far. Very disappointed in the quality of the sensor on the large can. If I can get the issue resolved, I will write a new review. UPDATE: I called Amazon for direction on a replacement for the large can. Amazon resolved the issue.Thank you Amazon for the great customer service. We have always been able to depend on you for support.Other options had it where it would take a month to receive. I found this one even cheaper with an added on bonus that included a mini. Love itThe price is comparable to one trash can. But in this package, you got 2. One is about 2 gallons size. The motion sensor works well on both. It is also easy to use. So far so good. My previous trash can of different brand worked for about 2 years. Let’s see how long this will last.We figured after four years this garbage can deserves a 5 star rating. It’s a good looking and awesome working product. Purchased in June of 2018 and it’s still going strong! Also, in 4 years I’ve only changed the batteries out twice.Bought it in March this year lasted 5 months - as photos show the metal rod on lid was attached to cheap plastic rings which easily snapped off during the last operation - will never buy another of these types of garbage cans. I should have read all of the reviews first I will next time, as I see others have had same problem. Durability of something built in a third world country - where no standards exists.I bought this in November of last year and this is the third one I have owned that hasn’t lasted a year. Like the last one the lid broke - plastic broke in the same place very cheaply made. I tried to contact customer service regarding a replacement and after almost two weeks have not heard back. I did find that with the shipping and the cost of the replacement it is only a few dollars more for a brand new one!! Spend more money to get one hat will last. The build quality has a really cheap feel to it, but it works. It is also very awkward to get the bags in without them showing (almost impossible on the smaller can)- The lid stopped closing all the way on the large can after less than a week. It would stop with about an inch still open. This allows all the odour from the garbage to continually come out.- While the auto open function is neat and can sometimes be handy, It triggers and opens the lid EVERY TIME you walk by it, even when your not all that close, so the lid seems to be constantly opening and closing. Again, this is letting all the odour out of the garbage even when your not actually using it.- While it says you can open the lid manually (if the motor stopped working) it is a tiny little knob you have to grasp on top of the lid. Not something you would want to have to be using from an expensive garbage can.We returned this can, and bought a Simply Human one instead, with the step on pedal to open. While it was more expensive, there is no comparison in the build quality, and little things like how you put the bags in and keep them in place on the simply human brand are so much better.
