i just got it literally 15 minutes ago my time and used it to open a can of peas, a can of cream of mushroom soup, a can of diced carrots and a 16 oz can of tuna...i'm making tuna ala king...it went through the cans like a hot knife through butter.the primary reason i decided to get this was that in the last 3 years, i just realized this, i've spent nearly a hundred dollars on just can openers. can you believe that??? nearly one hundred dollars on stupid can openers that some didn't even make it half way through a can of chicken noodle soup and others that just wore out over a couple of weeks to a couple of months...and NONE of them cost over $10 but every single one was made in the People's Republic of You Know Where.i got fed up with it and decided to "buy once, cry once" with this one by EZ-DUZ-IT.now to the INITIAL review...CONS;It is not "ergo-dynamic". which is just another marketing ploy to add a buck to the price. It is not compact. it's a full sized can opener, not a Swiss Army knife. It is not outfitted in florals, pastels or vibrant colors. put down the Martha Stewart's magazine and nobody gets hurt.PROS;It is really easy to use. like i said earlier, it went through four cans, three 12oz's and one 16oz, like a hot knife through butter. the grip was secure, the rotating handle was EXTREMELY easy to use and i do have the beginnings of arthritis in both hands along with cubital tunal syndrome in my left arm and peripheral neuropathy in both arms. It's not dainty. it's built like a tank and if anything in your kitchen should survive a house fire, earthquake, wild fire, nuke strike, asteroid impact or mostly peaceful protest it should be your can opener. It's "full constructed" as in, the handle "legs" go all the way down and don't just end in a 1/8th or 1/4th inch tab glued into a plastic handle.so this this ends my initial review. i'll be posting a 30 day, 90 day six month and 1 year follow up but as it stands right now, if you are in need of a truly decent quality can opener that will work and not give you the fits over a can of condensed milk then get this one.oh, here's a few FYI's...1. even though the description says that you can was with warm soapy water, DON'T and NEVER put ANY manual can opener into a dish washer. the best thing to do is to carefully, so as to not injure yourself, wipe down the can opener's contact and cutting surfaces with a clean dry cloth or dish towel. don't use oil. this can cause gumming and interfere with positive contact and lock-up with the can and the can opener.2. 99.999% of the gunk that gets onto and into your can opener comes from the can. simple solution is to just wipe the can's top with a clean cloth or napkin. if you think that you need to use soap and water or cleaning wipes or sprays on your cans of food, you need to find a new grocery store.3. don't just throw your can opener into a drawer. remember that this is a CUTTING INSTRUMENT. your $300 chef knife is a cutting instrument, albeit designed to cut different things differently, but it's purpose is to cut. so make a dedicated space/place/spot for it. back when i was a child, there used to be kitchen drawer inserts and these had slots for knives, forks, tablespoons, teaspoons and one wide spot that was too short for knives and forks and too short for spoons. that was because it was the can opener's place.thanks for taking the time to read my review and i hope the information i gave helps.I am an older lady and not always easy to open a can. My electric opener became unusable. We sent for this one and I had doubts. This is truly the easiest to use opener I have ever had and I have had a few top names! When this one wears out I will buy a new one. Thinking of getting each of my family one for their Christmas Stocking! Highly recommended! Thank you EZ-DUZ-IT!This is the best can opener I've ever had. Admittedly, I previously used to buy them in the supermarket. They did not last and or function well mechanically. This opener made me smile. Pierced the top of the can easily and it was a nice smooth consistent ride around the top turning those BIG handles. Lots of room to get your palm on that twist handle. SmoothI purchased this can opener in 2019 and it finally quit working as good as it used to. I ordered the same can opener again recently. I open a lot of cans and for it to last over 3 years is great. This can opener is designed to use without a lot of pressure. It is heavy duty but not heavy and is easy to hold. I am very pleased with this purchase. This can opener is made in the USA and is far better than any other brands out there. It would be a great gift for a college student or newlyweds as this can opener could quite possibly last a lifetime. After purchasing several brand name manual can openers and having them fail to work, I found this one and have been 100% satisfied with its performance. I bought it a year and a half ago and it has never failed to open a can perfectly. No more jumping off track and failing to completely, and easily, cut through any can lid. I used to keep a hammer and screwdriver in the kitchen to "finish" the job my other openers failed to complete. It is sturdy and have had no issues with rust. I'm in my 70's and my hand strength isn't what it used to be but I have no problem using it.Highly recommend this and the fact that it's American Made is a definite plus!Cuts like butter. Be careful the blade comes super sharp and it sticks out a bit. Use a couple times to “roll” the edge before throwing it in the drawer so the blade doesn’t get dinged up before it’s first use.I purchased two can openers this year both made in China and both of them broke. The Easy does it can opener, Opens the can with extreme ease, I can easily tell this is going to last me a while, but one for home and because the price was so affordable bought a second one for camping. This tin opener is the business. In the UK it seems to be extraordinarily difficult to lay hands on a decent can opener. I suppose all these top chefs and prestige kitchen equipment companies don't want to put their signature or logo on a lowly can opener, garlic crusher yes, mezza luna yes, espresso maker yes but tin opener no thank you.Meanwhile in the real world far away from TV chefs and domestic goddesses, mere mortals would like to open a tin of beans or chopped tomatoes. Well worry not help is at hand. This appliance slices off tin lids with ruthless ease in one easy go with minimum force. I know it seems a bit mad to be hymning the praises of a mere tin opener but the sad fact of the matter is that ones that work properly are so rare nowadays. It's not very exciting to look at. It's never going to win a prize from a design museum and the packaging is decidedly matter of fact. Also it comes from the Staes so it takes a while to arrive but the price (of the product and the postage) is reasonable and best of all it actually opens a tin.Highly recommended.I purchased as this tin opener was very highly rated but I have found it to be hit and miss with its action.Sometimes cuts cleanly all the way round sometimes misses altogether. On slightly misshapen cans struggled to cope.Perhaps mine was from a bad batch ?Anyway would not recommend based on my experienceWorks very well indeed. Someone who struggles with tin openers found this one easy to use. I was amazed. It is NOT Stainless steel, so be careful about washing and drying or rust soon shows! I am soaking in veggy oil and wiping and rarely washing to make this excellent piece of engineering last. Made in USA. Note the photo showing that the main capstan is beam welded to the main body for stability and durability.Rubbish quality, very poor finish on the cutting wheel. Buy Victorinox, same price, much better quality. The photo shows Ez-Duz-It on left and Victorinox on the right. You can clearly see the poor finish on the wheel grinding. And it does not open tins well, leaves several uncut sections on each tin attempt.Very dissapointed, normally made in USA stuff is good. This product comes brazened with MADE IN AMERICA, SUPPORT US MANUFACTURING, political slogans on it's packaging.I bought it based on it's reviews which may be skewed by that. It's a solid tin opener though. I bought it because it was touted as the world's best tin opener.I think the reviews have a bit of a positive bias by patriotic Americans reviewing it.
